Although it may be an offer that everyone’s talking about, the Great Exchange Offer at Big Bazaar, there are some facts and terms hidden to it which no one knows initially but come to know about it only when they are at the billing counter. Still you are getting some savings out of the junk that has been lying around your house but it still comes with a hidden condition to it. The tagline for this offer from Big Bazaar is that “your junk will save your money” and not your junk will earn you money.
First I will explain what you will get with the junk that you are going to exchange to buy stuff from Big Bazaar and then will tell about the pre-conditions attached to it when exchanging it to buy at Big Bazaar.
For selling the junk you will get the following valued exchange coupons which you can use at Big Bazaar to buy anything. If you could exchange any of the old furniture like bed, wardrobe, dining table, sofa, etc you would get up to Rs. 10,000 per piece depending upon the furniture that you are exchanging. And for the old clothes you get Rs. 200 per kg. For any old utensils and plastics you get Rs. 75 per kg. For the old news papers and books you get Rs. 25 per kg. For old tyres you get Rs. 50 per kg. For old pet bottles, beer bottles or tins you get Rs. 15 per kg. You also get Rs. 100 per kg for old luggage and footwear. For the old leather goods you get Rs. 75 per kg and for any other old things you get Rs. 20 per kg. All these prices mentioned above will be given back in the form of exchange coupons which you can use to buy anything at Big Bazaar and even Food Bazaar.
But the only hidden or obvious condition is that you will need to shop for 4 times the value of the exchange coupons in order to avail this “The Great Exchange Offer”. And you cannot buy any products straightway for the exchange coupons given. Suppose if you have got a exchange coupon worth Rs. 100 by giving away your junk to Big Bazaar, then you will need to make a minimum purchase of Rs. 400 to redeem this exchange coupon and thus virtually making in a 25% discount coupon rather than the gift coupons, which otherwise can be redeemed for any amount you make the purchase.
So whether if you are trying to avail this offer, do keep this in mind before giving away your junk or unused products to Big Bazaar. Although you are getting a good value for your money for your junk but this minimum purchase requirement makes it slightly a dampener. Otherwise if you don’t mind about this pre-condition, you can just give your junk to Big Bazaar instead of throwing it away and it back in the form of discount coupons.
Also there are some pre-conditions applied to some exchanges like if you exchange an electronics or furniture you can buy only from the respective sections to avail this offer. I guess this condition applies only for the furniture and electronics items. Otherwise there is also up to 60% discount offer that is currently going on.
For this year, The Great Exchange Offer is on till March 8th 2009.

Can you help me whether this can be excahnged in Fodd Bazaar or not? If I sell 1 kg of newspaper for 25 I have to purchase for Rs 100 minimum from there? Right....
According to what they have mentioned, i guess you can buy at Food Bazaar for Rs. 100 if you exchange it for Rs. 25 exchange vouchers. But i would suggest you that you first check with the food bazaar billing counter before in fact you give your news paper to exchange for coupons.
I guess these coupons cannot be used in FoodBazaar. You have buy clothes/utensils by giving away old newspapers.
But Karan, I guess there is a change in their terms on this, and we can use these coupons at Food Bazaar also, as far as i know, but have not tried it... so you better enquire about it before trying.
Ok Shiva, i thought the T&Cs were same as last time around.I will go to BigBazaar and enquiry and keep you updated.
You can exchange your coupons (obtained by selling goods other than Furniture or Electronics) in FoodBazaar. But there is one restriction. You can not buy each and everything in Foodbazaar using your coupons. There is a list of selected items on which you can use your coupons. I did not find any worth buying these items as most of them were of brands which I do not know/use. Better option is to go for clothing as most of them can be bought using these coupons.
we can purchase even food items but they provide 20-25% dis on food items...
